One of the forums on the OCA Flickr group mentioned that there is a street photography festival coming up in London. For the first time this year, as part of the festival there is an international and student street photographer award. You have to submit between 6 and 8 street photographs that you’ve taken in the last 5 years. Part of the prize is a photo shoot with photographer Nils Jorgensen. Now that I have a better understanding of how to use my camera correctly I thought I would enter, just out of interest to see how I do. Afterall, they say you’ve got to be in it to win it! So there’s no harm in having a go. You also get a Blurb voucher to publish a book, which is worth more than the entry fee!
Street photography is definitely an area of photography that I’ve been interested in ever since I got a DSLR. There doesn’t seem to be a predetermined set of rules for this type of photography. It involves quick thinking and working in a varied and changeable environmental conditions. These are the following photographs I’ve chosen to submit to the festival.
