1. Cool/warm contrast. I took this photograph one summer evening so that the sky would be a clear cool blue and that the warmth of the lights would illuminate the red beams of the pier.
2. Cool colours. A low angle enabled me to capture the windows reflecting off the glass and use the cool green background. I also used a shallow depth of field to minimise any warmth that would appear from the chandelier in the top right corner of the frame.
3. Warm colours. I used a macro lens to focus on the star shape. The camera’s flash has brought out the orange/red warmth of the wood and the bokeh effect in the background has created a reddish tinge.
